September

September went by in a flash! It was so busy and I had so much fun. One of the great things about September is that it is the beginning of hockey season. I have been a hockey fan for years, but most people that live in Las Vegas only started following hockey when the Vegas Golden Knights started playing here 2 years ago. I actually worked for the NHL for several years while I was in college. I was hired to go and paint the center logos for different teams. I worked for the L.A. Kings, the Ducks, the Sharks, and the Avalanche. The Avalanche were the best, even though I was originally hired by the Kings.

At the beginning of the month I got the opportunity to meet Ryan Reeves #75 at Pole Position Raceway https://www.polepositionraceway.com/las-vegas/. He was very cool and mellow. On the ice he has the persona of being a fighter, but in person he is so laid back. He signed several things for me and took quite a few pictures with me and my friend Juan. I was so excited about this that I called Zach (my husband) while he was at work the night before to tell him about it and he told me that because I love Reeves so much he told me that I could get another $300 jersey to have him sign. I didn’t. I spent $10 on a nice picture of him at the Armory and had him sign that instead. The tickets to meet him were $100 but since Juan lives next door to the guy that owns Pole Position we didn’t have to pay. Let me tell you that it was well worth $100. Not only do they give you free races in the go carts, but the event is catered and it has an open bar. Obviously you can’t drink and then go drive a go cart, so once you start drinking you can’t race anymore. They also had cans of Ryan’s 7FIVE Brewing at the bar and we got to drink that while were there. Then the brewery gave us all some to take home. I had Ryan sign the cans, so they probably won’t get drank. Pole Position also gave us a bunch of swag like t-shirts, coupons, charging cables, metal straws, and other random things. They had a raffle too, and since the event was limited to 100 people everyone won something. Juan and I both won Muffin Man shirts, which I had him sign too! It was a great event and I will be sure to go if they have anymore!

Back around May or June Juan and I decided to get ticket to all the VGK preseason games at Hyde, the club inside T-Mobil. There were 4 preseason home games, but we had to purchase an entire table for each game. The price per ticket was only $35, but for 16 tickets that came out to be $560. Juan and I went to all 4 games but I sold the other tickets to our friends at cost. We won the first game against the Coyotes, lost the second and third to the Avalanche and the Kings, but won the last game against the Sharks. That was the big game because of the huge rivalry for what happened last year. We were all so glad that they won that one!

The day after that game Jonathan Marchessault was doing a signing at the T-Mobil store on the strip. I gave Juan my Marchessault jerseys to get signed, but I ended up being able to make it. He was super nice too. I was holding Zach’s jersey and wearing mine (Yes, we have matching jerseys. Yes, it’s ridiculous. He got his first not knowing that Machessault is who I would want too, since his number is 81 and that is when I was born). The T-Mobil employees told us that we could only have one thing signed. When I got up to meet him he signed Zach’s jersey and told me to turn around so he could sign mine too. Then he handed me a signed photo and took pictures with me. It was a great day, but I was so tired from the night before and Juan was very hung over. Lol!

I would love to meet everyone on that team, but next on the priority list is Nate Schmidt!

VGK is at 2 wins and 2 losses right now since preseason doesn’t count. I’m thankful that hockey is started back up again. It was a very long summer!! I got a VGK tattoo in September too!

Here’s to October!
