I wish I had a farm…

This past weekend my wonderful husband took me to a farm animal rescue called Barn Buddies http://barnbuddiesrescue.org/. He figured that after the last couple of weeks that one of the best ways to cheer me up (I’ll talk about the reasons for this in a later post) was to get me to a cow. I love cows so much! They are so sweet and so gentle, and not only did I get to pet a cow named Hazel, but I got to give her a kiss too.

Welcome To BARN BUDDIES RESCUE – Barn Buddies RescueBarn Buddies Rescue is a fairly new non-profit organization by name, but not by the mission we perform. You see, we’ve been doing what we do since 1961.barnbuddiesrescue.org

I want a farm. I want several acres of land where I can rescue animals. That is my big dream. I would love to have a couple of retired dairy cows, maybe a pig, some chickens, rosters that have been rescued from fighting rings, some ducks, and of course dogs, cats, and rabbits, and maybe a hedgehog, and an armadillo. Really anything that needs a good home I would happily take. Zach told me that we could get a couple cows when we’re older. I told him by the time that we move to a house where we can have cows, we will be older, so I just need to find a place where my cows will be happy.

Until then I know that Barn Buddies needs some volunteers and several of the things that they need help with I have quite a bit of experience with like grant writing and artists/painters. I also want to design a shirt for them. While we were there I got a few things like a couple jars of homemade jam, pickled squash, an apple pie, and a magnet, but if they would have had shirts available I would have gotten one, so maybe they just need a design for one and I’d be happy to make one for them. I feel like volunteering at this place would make me very happy and I could give Hazel a kiss whenever I wanted. Now I just need to see what my schedule is going to be like for the rest of the summer so I can work out a time to actually do it.

I will never understand how people can abuse animals. I do know that there are several pigs at Barn Buddies because people are stupid and think that teacup pigs are a real thing, which isn’t the case. I guess I understand that some animals could be more work that you are able to do when you’re getting older, but, again, I will never understand how someone could abuse or neglect and animal. That should never happen. Until everyone realizes this I will do what I can to help organizations like Barn Buddies.
